Under the Medicare Disproportionate Share Hospital Program (“DSH”), CMS provides additional reimbursement to hospitals that serve a disproportionate share of low income patients. J&A’s extensive DSH review process incorporates both electronic and manual components to assist hospitals in identifying and documenting Title XIX-eligible days. Our proprietary process is designed to ensure that each and every stay is reviewed for inclusion in the Medicare DSH calculation. J&A has established extensive connections with State Medicaid agencies and their representatives which allow us to determine and document Medicaid eligibility. Our primary goal is to develop a DSH calculation that includes all Medicaid eligible days in compliance with applicable Medicare laws and regulations.
Since our firm’s formation in 1994, J&A has specialized in providing DSH review services to hospitals and health systems. J&A will review and complete the DSH calculation for cost report filing, provide an update for audit/desk review, as well as complete a retroactive review for reopening and/or appeal purposes. J&A’s DSH services include all documentation and support that may be required by the Medicare audit, reopening and/or filing of the appeal. With J&A assisting you with Medicare DSH reimbursement, you can rest assured you are receiving the maximum reimbursement allowable under the current regulations.
